unshackled, thanks for the link. Read it. unshackled said, no one....based on your previous comment about kangaroos, ice core samples, glaciation, drift...you have a good list of things that they won't have answers for. Well, as undercover pointed out they'll try to rationalize, but it won't be logic. I'd like to comment on this briefly without hijacking the thread topic. The conversation with the 2 males got started by a knock on my door by a woman and a teenage female who made it clear with body english that she didn't want to be on my doorstep. She asked if I wanted the latest W&A mags. I was polite, thanked her and said no. She said, "Aren't you interested in the Bible?" I told her yes, but that the Bible had enough problems of its own for me without bringing in some other literature that tries to explain it. So, she asked for a for-instance. Trying to keep it simple and in the Gospels, I asked her why Mark had Christ being executed at the 3rd hour, but John had him standing before Pilate at the 6th hour. She said she would have to research it and get back to me, but if that was the only issue that I had with the Bible, it was no biggy. That didn't sit so well with me, so I asked her if God makes us break His own laws at times to accomplish His purpose. "NO". So, without pointing her to the specific scripture (and it is Num. 15:32-36), I commented how a man was stoned to death for gathering firewood on the Sabbath. Then I asked her to comment whether the Sabbath law had been broken with the account of the seige of Jerocho; how it was to be marched around by the Isrealites for seven consecutive days (one of those being a Sabbath day) before the city was destroyed. She said she'd have to get back to me. Then the two males arrived seven weeks later. Their answer to the Mark/John contradiction. "We don't know, but this does not diminish our belief in or respect for the Bible as the Word of God." So---I went off on them with a line of questions. Seven... how biblically prophetic.

the global Noahic flood is truth
by undercover inthat's not my assertion... that quote belongs to "godrulz" who said it on a thread introducing a newbie.
instead of hijacking that one, i thought i'd repeat here.. now, mr. godrulz... are you prepared to back that statement up with some proof?.

unshackled, thank you for the invite on the video, but I'm on dial-up and would probably be dead and gone before it ever loaded.

Yes ziddina, I live very near the Gulf Coast. We have salt domes here. Years ago ( about 20-25?), Texaco was drilling a gas well in a freshwater lake. They drilled into a salt cavern beneath the lake. Water was flowing backwards out of the Gulf as the salt cavern filled. Eventually, the situation stabilized, but the lake stayed a freshwater lake because once the salinity saturation of the fresh water that had gone done the hole and into the salt mine had reached 100%, no more salt dissolved. Thus, my question to them about ocean currents and the Ark not drifting very far.

Looks like a browser issue with the paragraphs. Thank you for the suggestions. Perhaps someone can separate my post into paragraphs. I asked them why there were no kangaroo fossils between Turkey and Malasyia for the return journey after the flood. I asked them how kangaroos got back to Australia without a land bridge from Malaysia to reach an island continent. I asked them about ice core samples in Anarctica and Greenland; the depth of the cores and the climatic record that was being revealed by the layers in the core samples and the fact that if it had never rained berfore the flood, it had never snowed before the flood. I asked them about glaciation and its slow motion process and the moraines the delineate their farthest progress. I asked them why with strong ocean currents and a year-long flood why Noah and his boat never drifted very far from the land of Eden. I asked them how much water in inches per hour for 40 days could safely fall from the sky without damaging the Ark and that if the lions share of the water had come from the watery deep and was returning there, why did continents have to rise to allow the water to recede. They said they'd be back.

Thank you, guys, for responding. Can you help me create paragraphs. Don't understand why it's jammed into one.

Sorry that it's jammed together into a single paragraph. Haven't posted in years. I used spacing to create paragraphs in my post. Can someone tell me the secret of making it happen? Thanks

Can someone familiar with JW beliefs on the flood provide a bit of help? Had a pair come by about a month ago, one about 30, the other near 70. Stated my skepticism about the flood and used the following two concepts: 1) Many species of trees (I used the cypress which is local to my region) are not salt-water tolerant, not even their seeds. You have to transplant a seedling to replace. 2) Before the flood, the ocean had to be extremely saline; at the least, more so than now (if all the water is still here by their claim). This would have either killed the marine life or they would have had to adapt (evolve) very quickly into creatures that tolerated a much more saline habitat. The older gent simply stated that the oceans were fresh water bodies before the flood and that there was a salt source that gradually dissolved to create salty oceans. My question: Is this a universal JW belief? First time ever hearing it. I asked them several other questions about the flood and they said they'd be back. Been a month now. A bit of research I did that came from USGS said that if you could remove all of the salt from the oceans, it would form a layer 500 feet thick that would cover the planet. Trying to cut it down to size as a salt source that would dissolve to form salt oceans, it would be a salt continent measuring about 3300 miles square and 4000 feet tall.

Avoiding the Meeting
by brotherdan inso, darth plaugeis (or however you spell it) has suggested that the best way to get out of going to the meeting is to tell your wife that it's time to get ready for the meeting, and when her back is turned hit her over the head with a large object.. i'm sure there are better ways to get out of going.
i'm looking for some real ideas here.
" i like the whole getting your wife (or husband) drunk before the meeting so they won't want to go idea.

Warning!!! Do NOT load yourself up on salt water at work if you have a long commute or if there is a risk of being stuck in traffic. Otherwise you'll miss the meeting cuz you're scrubbing the drivers seat in you car.
Once this kicks in, you don't dare sneeze, cough, or fart without being firmly planted on the loo.

You don't have to fake explosive diarrhea. You can create it anytime you want. When you come home after work on a meeting night, drink several glasses of heavily salted water. Works in 1 to 3 hours depending on your digestive system and lasts for several hours. She'll be unable to say you're faking it.
